This controller caught my eye due to the fact that this has the hall joysticks, especially at this price point.I currently use the 8BitDo Ultimate controller as my daily driver, so I'm comparing this controller to that. I also only tested this on the Switch so far, but I really appreciate the flexibility to play on multiple platforms.When first connecting to the switch, I was following the instructions but was using the wrong menu. Be sure to use the "Change Grip/Order" menu, not the one where it vibrates the controller. Once I had the right menu, it connected instantly.As for fit and finish, the controller seems slightly cheaper than the 8BitDo controller, but not by much. Compared to the 8BitDo and a Xbox Series X controller, it has less weight and balance to it. I can balance the controllers from the 8BitDo and Xbox on my middle fingers while this one is a bit top heavy. Really not an issue, just an observation. The buttons also feel a bit more loose or make a weird click on release than the other two, but again, not by much.As for the shape, it really-really resembled the Xbox controller. So if you are more used to an Xbox controller, this will be up your alley.Surprisingly, the thumb joysticks feel like a dream. I kind of like them slightly more than the 8BitDo, especially when moving them in a full circle. Still shocked to have that type of feel at this price point.As I was testing it out in game, I loaded a game I was most of the way through to see if there were any quirks with muscle memory. I'm happy to report that I pretty much forgot I was using this controller instead of my 8BitDo one! It's that close.While I don't really care about visual flair of my controller, the spiraling RGB colors on the joysticks are a really fun and nice touch.I haven't extensively used the D-pad just yet, but the 8BitDo is known for having an excellent one (especially over the official Switch pro controller), but first impressions that it felt a little floaty. Not bad for games like Tears of the Kingdom or 3D Mario games.Overall, for the price this is a no-brainer, especially if it's a controller that you let friends/significant other use occasionally without sacrificing quality controls.
